Dewey was a kind gentle man with a Hugh heart. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. Dewey was already to help someone in need. He loved his family and he was always fun to be with, joking, teasing and cutting up making everyone laugh. Carolyn and I will miss him very much. He was the life of the party even on the golf course. RIP my friend. Godspeed.

Dewey’s here! I will never forget your face every time you came late to the family gathering, but you always had a smile and everyone was always glad you were there because spirits were lifted and we knew you’d have a story to tell us. I’ll sure miss you Dewey. You brought happiness, goodwill and one hell of a personality to this world, that can never be replaced. You gave Rita a run for her money and that was a feat in itself. We sure got lucky the day that you walked into Rachael‘s work where the love story began. Please watch over my sister, reminding her of your love for her, and we will do the same. Know that we will always remember you showed us how to be a great friend. Rest in peace buddy, forever missed, love car

Many basketball officiating stories with Dewey and Larry Butz all around Southwestern Ohio. The ribbing at each other and game reviews were priceless. Dewey was a quick learner and dedicated always wanting to be evaluated to be the best he could be. RIP "ref" ..........with your whistle and striped short!

- Tom Palmer, Tuesday September 21st, 2021

Rachel, and Family, I am so sorry to hear that Dewey has passed. Rachel as you probably know, Dewey and I go way back to the 60s. Dewey was quite a card then, and that never changed. Dewey was just one of those Good Guys his entire life. I would run into him once in a while through the years, and he just never changed. I am sure he is looking down and just smiling, telling everyone about his family.Prayers to you and all your family during this time. What a SPECIAL GIFT to all of us !!!

Hildy and I send our sincere and humble condolences to Rachael, Carrie, Lisa and Dewey’s grandchildren whom he adored. We got to know Dewey and his little girls in the 70’s while officiating basketball, and have remained good friends with him and Rachael. For those of us who had the good fortune of knowing Dewey on a personal basis, know of his love of family, golf and Buckeye football. Truly, he was unique in a good way and had a heart of gold. God bless the family during this difficult time and Dewey…RIP, my friend.

- Darwin G. Brown, Monday September 20th, 2021

Dewey, you will be sorely missed - I have been very sad about you passing. You were willing to do anything for anyone. When people would ask where I lived in the Glades, all I would have to say is that I live next door to Dewey, and then they would give their condolences, in a humorous way. You were willing to do anything for anyone, all they had to do was ask. You have helped so many residents in the Glades. This summer, I had both bathrooms remodeled and spent 6-weeks down here, who gave me their home to live in, you and Rachel, no questions asked. Three weeks ago, we talked about work you were going to help me with- wish you were here to help me. The battery operated golf cart in the lake is, wait for it, Glades legendary, Jeremy's photos of the 'event' were classic. Bottom line my friend, there are a lot of folk in the Glades community that are going to miss you, especially Andrea and I, like many, we benefited from your friendship, life is not fair. We will miss you - gone, not forgotten. RIP my friend, I will miss you, as will many in our Glades community. Richard Arnott

I've never had the pleasure of meeting Dewey, but as a friend of Liz, he must have been one heck of a guy in order to raise a gem like her. Sincerest condolences to all friends and family that will endure a loss of his passing.
