My condolences to Mike's family on his passing. I used to prepare cases with Mike when I was in the prosecutor's office and always enjoyed working with him personally and professionally. I know he was proud of his family. I will offer up prayers for you all and Mike. Judge Carey

I met you years ago you were a good friend of my husband Michael Ross. I remember him telling me he wanted me to meet his friend Hort. You were in our wedding. I always thought you were so nice and so funny, we had a lot of fun party times. My parents lived on Villa road and we were there celebrating my birthday and you showed up in your police car across the road and sang Happy Birthday to me over the speaker in your police car. R I H. Mike ( Or as Mike Ross called you Hort).

He's with Bullet now.

Linda asked me to include her in this condolence. My memories of Mike were of a sweet, funny, handsome, kind, and loyal friend. We all had many fun times hanging out, going to the Coconut Lounge, and general teenage antics. When we saw him at a funeral in later years he was still the great person we remembered in our youth. You will be missed greatly my friend.

I first met Mike as a next door neighbor almost 30 years ago. Within a month or two we were fast friends, getting to the point where if I wasn't home or working, I was most likely sitting on his couch. He was generous to the point that he loaned people money often with no expectation of getting it back. My friend Bill and I got him a beer mug that Phillip "Mike" Hatfield had been given the mug in commemoration of an award from the St. Vincent de Paul Society for generosity. Mike was also one of the funniest people I'd ever met. During the time of Covid I missed seeing him and had been looking forward to hanging out again now that things are nearly normal. It is with deep sadness that I will continue to miss my good friend.

Mike has been my good friend since we met as Freshmen at Central. It didn't matter if years passed between visits, we would always pick up where we left off as though it were a momentary interruption. I'm glad we got to visit more often in recent years. He has always been the same. Easy to be around and ready to engage that infectious laugh. Sad as losing him is, I can't help but smile when he comes to mind.

Will always have memories of meeting you at St.Rays in the first grade and memories growing with you through CCHS. It didn't stop there . With the Service came the Hatfield Boy's nickname " GI Mike " Then it turned into Mike through our many encounters over the years . It' hard to imagine a Springfield without Mike. RIP !
