FAIN, William H. "Bill", 74, of Springfield, passed away Friday, April 3, 2015 in his home after making a valiant attempt to recover from a fall on June 11, 2014. With so many underlying health issues he was never able to grasp that golden ring long enough at one time to achieve that goal. He was born in May 7, 1940 in Wellston, Ohio to his loving parents William H. and Helen M. (Van Bibber) Fain, Sr. He married his jr. and sr. high school sweetheart Barbara A. (Elliott) on July 15, 1961. He was employed by Columbia Gas of Ohio as a serviceman retiring after 37 years in 1999. He was an avid fisherman and for years he carried fishing rods, reels and tackle in his vehicle "just in case" he passed by a river, lake or pond that called his name to cast that hook, line and sinker into it. Nothing he loved better than sitting on a bank "drowning worms" with his grandson, Levi. He is survived by his loving wife, Barb; three children, Lori Lynn Fain, Jeffrey Scott (Debbie) Fain and Patrick William (Cindy) Fain, all of Springfield; two biological grandchildren, Brandy Kay Fain (Eddie Toronto) and Levi William Fain and his mother, Dawn Dell Fain; he welcomed step grandchildren, Randi (Joe) Kidder, Lindsey (Shane) Stratton, Megan Mercer and Derrick DeLawder ; great grandchildren, Cayden , Conner, Clayton, Shalin and J.T.; brothers, Donald Fain, Arnold "Corky" (Marilyn) Fain; one sister, Kathy Beth (Pete) Williams; extended family, Jena Smith, Steve, Cindy and Tyler Gudorf and Angela and Jake Stan; 6 nephews, 4 nieces, 7 great nephews and 9 great nieces; best friends, Pat (Judy) Conner, Katy, TX, John (Carolyn) Smith and Al (Cheryl) Evans, Springfield. He was preceded in death by his parents and many aunts and uncles. The family would like to give a special thank you to Crossroads Hospice and hospice nurse Andi Shumacher and aide Shana for all the care Bill received. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME and one-hour prior to the funeral. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm Tuesday in the funeral home.
