BURKE, William E., 90, died Saturday January 23, 2016 in Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born March 25, 1925 in Springfield, Ohio, the third of eleven children to Paul and Helen (Bennett) Burke. Bill "Burkie" was a barber in Springfield for many years and after retiring he worked in Central Supply at the Ohio Masonic Home, as a courtesy driver for Monte Zinn, and as a maintenance worker at the Wilberforce Post Office until he was 83. Bill was a WWII Army Air Corp Veteran and a member of the F. & A.M. Anthony Lodge. He was a good husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend and he will be sadly missed by many. He is survived by 5 children: Barbara and Steve Gordin, Mike and Emma Burke, Gloria McNelly, Sheila Flack and Todd Johnson, and Colleen and Chris Roberts; 12 grandchildren: Stephanie Teske (Olli), Angie Taseff (Brad), Addie Bennett (Tom), Michelle Brumfield (Mike), Katie Sloan (Michael), Michael Bailey, Steve Bailey (Nubi), Brian Flack, April Dunfee (Aaron), Justin Reed, Matt Roberts (Alyssa), and Erica Ryan (Richard); 18 great-grandchildren and 7 great- great-grandchildren; and seven of Sally's children. Bill was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife of 52 years, Patricia (Thorne) Burke, and his 2nd wife of 5 years, Sally (Valley) Burke. Friends may call in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Rev. Fr. Dennis Caylor officiating.
