NOFFKE, William E. "Bill", 78, of Springfield, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 in Springfield Regional Medical Center after a 20-year battle with Parkinson's disease. He was born May 5, 1936 in Toledo, Ohio. He was a well-known high school and college volleyball referee for over 30 years. Bill was an avid sports fan and most enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports. He was an All-American volleyball player at Wittenberg University and was also an alternate on the 1964 US Men's Olympic Volleyball Team. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Sue (Jennings); four children, Todd (Jodie) Noffke, Erin Noffke; Andy (Michele) Noffke, Jodi (Donnie) Robbins, all of Springfield; ten grandchildren, Justin, Phillip, Jeremy, Evan, Brandon, Amanda, Jordan, Jenna, Jessa and Jaycee; one brother, Jerry Noffke, California and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday in the funeral home with Pastor Bill Warax officiating. Burial will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the National Parkinson's Foundation.
