Verna Mae Dooley

Dooley, Verna Mae, 92, of Springfield, passed away Friday, March 15, 2024 in the Springfield Masonic Community. Verna was born January 4, 1932 in Urbana, Ohio, the daughter of Sylven P. and N. Catherine (Rockel) Baker. She retired from Midland Ross/Grimes Division in Urbana after 30 years as an Executive Secretary. She also worked for Springfield City Schools as a full-time and part-time secretary. Verna was a member of Northridge United Methodist Church, the Elks Lodge #51 in Springfield and The Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include her daughter, Rhonda Lynn Dibert; three stepdaughters, Barbara Ann (Fred) Neidhart, Patricia Ann (Terry) Scott and Brenda Kay Long; close friend, Floyd “Doug” Hursh; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland in 2011; and two siblings, Joyce Aleshire and Lamar Baker. As per her request, she will be cremated with no services. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her. Arrangements are being handled by the CONROY FUNERAL HOME.
