Thomas "Mike" Smith

SMITH, Thomas "Mike," 72, of Springfield, passed away Monday, October 23, 2017 in the Ohio State University Medical Center. Mike was born on July 17, 1945 in Champaign County to Francis W. and Rosetta M. Smith. He retired as a civilian from Wright Patterson Air Force Base. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in Vietnam from 1967 - 1969. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 1031, where he served as a chaplain. He was an avid sports fan, and a loyal Cleveland Browns fan. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 50 years, Pam (Cooke); two children, Jeff (Vickie) Smith and Brian (Carla) Smith; four grandchildren, Morgan, Marisa, Nathan and Lilly; three sisters, Melina (Bob) Houston, Cindy Krieg and Debbie (Mike) Wagner; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Dorothy Krieg Smith; and a sister, Rebecca Smith. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 -7 p.m. in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Funeral service will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
