KORAB, Thomas Michael, 80, of Springfield, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2019 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born October 10, 1939 in Lorain, Ohio the son of the late Alexander and Geraldine (Ward) Korab. Tom has been involved in sports and education in Ohio and West Virginia since he started teaching and coaching in 1965. He had served as athletic director for Dennison St. Mary's, Steubenville Catholic Central, Wheeling Park, Gallia Academy and Northwestern High School. His first love was coaching football. He also coached baseball, basketball, track, tennis and volleyball. Coach Korab won numerous awards for being an outstanding educator and his dedication to his student athletes. When he wasn't coaching or teaching he was either playing golf or mowing grass. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Debbie (Runyan); five children and spouses, Kathy (Brad) Barlow, Pittsburgh, PA, Scott (Beth) Korab, Springboro, OH, Todd (Amy) Korab, Oakwood, OH, Alex Korab, Springfield, OH and Kristin (Jacob) Harmon, Fairborn, OH; 12 grandchildren, Jewel, Jackson, Patty, Erin, Thomas, Anton, Emerson, Griffin, Hudson, Harrison. Arya and Lorelai; mother-in-law, Charlotte Runyan; his special four legged friend, Luke and many other loving family, friends, golfing buddies and student athletes. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday at The United Church of South Vienna with Pastor Scott Griswold officiating. A gathering of family and friends will immediately follow.
