Beverly, Stephen M., 70, of Springfield, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born October 16, 1946 in Peru, Indiana the son of the late Donald K. and Ruth E. (Bender) Beverly. Steve retired from Bonded Oil Company/Speedway after many years of service. During these years of hard work and dedication, he was proud to have opened the first convenience store/gas station combination for the company in Bloomington, Indiana. He served as a Marketing/Merchandise Manager and Buyer for the majority of his career. Steve graduated from Peru High School in 1964 and earned a B.S. in business from Indiana University in 1969. He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and dedicated sports fan, especially for the Hoosiers and Bobby Knight. He enjoyed and donated his time to a variety of organizations including: Noon Optimist Club (Past President), Toastmasters International, IU Alumni Association and the Mustang Club of America and Ohio among others. In his retirement he enjoyed having more time with his family and searching for his "deals" from local auctions and estate sales. The family would like to thank all of his doctors and caregivers for their care and support over the past 20 years. Survivors include his wife, Patricia (Hilgeman) Beverly; daughter, Brigitte (Jimmy) Williams of Springfield; son, Bryan (Mendy) Beverly of New Carlisle; two sisters, Dawn (David) Smith of Venice, Florida and Patricia McCubbins of Linton, Indiana; grandchildren, the pride of his life, Stephanie (Aaron) Schoepflin, Rachel Ewing, Ryan Beverly, Laura Williams and Henry Williams; great-grandchildren, Annabelle and Aubrey Schoepflin; nieces, Heather (Glenn) Johnson, Kelly Smith, Nicole Smith, Toma Rusk and nephews, Sebastian Rusk, Matt and Mason McCubbins; several cousins, special uncle, Henry Bender and many dear friends in both Ohio and Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and grandson, Clayton Charles Williams. A gathering of family and friends will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday in CONROY FUNERAL HOME.
