Schutte, Stephen E., 65, of Springfield, passed away April 19, 2014. Steve was born May 6, 1948 in Springfield, OH to Raymond and Katherine (Burke) Schutte. A member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, a U.S. Army Reservist, was a graduate of Catholic Central High School, Ohio University and the University of Cincinnati Law School. He was a practicing attorney in Springfield for many years. Survivors include two siblings, Maria Schutte and Roger (Linda) Schutte, both of Springfield. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Raymond and Richard Schutte. (Hondo Shemma Schutte AKA The Walking Attorney). Steve lived life on his own terms, a claim few of us can make. Not one to back off a historical debate and never met a crossword puzzle he feared. Bombastic, sometimes truculent and always forgiving. If you had a problem with Steve, the problem was most likely yours. To those who oppose this point of view, to quote Steve, "Here's mud in your eye." A special Thank You to the Hannon family, Tom and Tony, Joe Reardon, and Steve Whalen for being there for him. Friends may call in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME from 5-7 p.m. Friday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent De Paul Society.
