Sofia Doyle

Doyle, Sofia E. (Stegers), 88, of Springfield, died at 2:50 a.m. Tuesday, August 13, 2013 in Villa Springfield. She was born in Bendorf, Germany on August 23, 1924 the daughter of Johann "John" Josef and Katharina (Opper) Stegers. She worked a short time at Crowell Collier before going to Wright Patterson Air Force Base for 33 years as a secretary and procurement as she traveled with her husband, Major John E. Doyle. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, William "Bill" I. Stegers. She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church since the age of 3 from Germany and was also a member of the Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She enjoyed life to the fullest, was quick witted and had a great sense of humor. Sofia was loved, enjoyed and cared for by her close friends, George Roach, Pam and Wayne Pitstick and Pat Kearns. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday in St. Bernard Church. Visitation will be one hour prior in church. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.
