Jones, Shirley, 81, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday January 15, 2015. She was born in Brandt, Ohio on May 16, 1933 the daughter of Louise and Roy Filbrun. Shirley Jones had a vivacious personality and a smile that could light up a room. She loved basketball and supported her HS team as a Bethel Bee cheerleader. She was a wonderful seamstress, had an eye for fashion, and made many of her own clothes in high school which later led to her attending fashion design at the Dayton Art Institute.
Shirley loved life, married and started a family. She was part of the Northridge PTA, volunteered at Northridge Methodist Church and Grace Bible Church. She loved playing cards and hosting card club socials. Shirley enjoyed sewing, crochet, ceramics and most of all, she was "Born to Shop". A great joy of hers was to make things and give gifts to bless her family and friends. Shirley started working at Navistar in the early 80's as a Payroll Auditor and Parts Expediter. She retired after twenty-eight years of service. Survivors include her two sons, Dean (Heather) Jones of Springfield and Mark Allen (Cyndi) Jones of Texas; 13 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, son, Gerald, grandson, Clayton and brother, Richard Gum. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday in CONROY FUNERAL HOME with her son, Dean Jones officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
