Guenther, Russell Paul "Russ", 76, of Springfield, passed away Friday, October 30, 2015 in Springfield Regional Medical Center. Russ was born December 28, 1938 in Cincinnati, Ohio the son of Russell H. and Norma (Borger) Guenther. He retired in 2000 from Catholic Central High School, where he was a coach, teacher and athletic director for 35 years. He was a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus # 624. He was also an avid Ohio State fan and supporter of Catholic Central High School athletics. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Beverly (Garner); four children, Gary (Tracy) Guenther, Greg (Melissa) Guenther, Mark (Jody) Guenther and David (Ellen) Guenther; eight grandchildren, Brittany, Molly, Olivia, Abbey, Cohen, Avery, Addison and Keegan; one great granddaughter, Harper; three siblings, Robert (Carol) Guenther, Barbara (Daniel) Muchmore and Jo (Brent) Martin; brother-in-law, Ronnie Garner; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Joan Sweet. Visitation will be held Monday from 4-8 p.m., with a Knights of Columbus service at 7:30 p.m., in the Jason Collier Gymnasium at Catholic Central High School. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in St. Raphael Church. Memorial donations may be made to the Jason Collier Scholarship Fund. Arrangements by CONROY FUNERAL HOME.
