Copeland, Ronald L., 75, of Springfield, passed away Thursday, December 31, 2015 in his home surrounded by family after battling a long term illness. He was born November 22, 1940 in Peebles, OH to Virgil and Evelyn (Gilbert) Copeland. He worked as a plant manager for Cooper Industries for 18 years, and later worked for and retired from the Clark County Board of Developmental Disabilities. He was a member of the United States Marine Corps, and an avid bowler, golfer and fisherman. Survivors include four children, Aaron Copeland, Karen (Pam Owens) Copeland, Lisa (Mike) Pitt and Ryan (Nikki) Copeland; seven grandchildren, Brooke Tuttle, Sydney Tuttle, Connor Johnson, Jessica Pitt, Sydney Copeland, Justin Pitt, Nicholas Copeland; two sisters, Patricia Richards and Shirley Beckel; half-brother, Aaron Lamar (Linda) Roderick; half-sister, Jennifer (Copeland) Williams; numerous nieces and nephews; close family friends, Linda Salisbury, Nicholas "Sunshine" Hayes, and his parents, John and Lisa Hayes. He was preceded in death by his wife, Suzanne (Rader), in 2001. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in his name to Springfield Community Mercy Hospice.
