Brown, Robert L. "Doc", M.D., 77, of Springfield, OH passed away November 1, 2013 in Oakwood Village after a long illness. Robert was born August 10, 1936 in Lima, OH to Russell and Ethel (Miller) Brown. On December 22, 1962 he married the love of his life, Linda Myers. He was a 1969 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Medicine and interned at Mt. Carmel West in Columbus. After his internship he practiced medicine at Community Hospital in Springfield for 18 years. He later became a file reviewer for the State of Ohio Bureau of Workers Comp. Doc attended High Street United Methodist Church, was a member of The Ohio State Medical Association, Clark County Medical Society, where he served as treasurer, a charter member of the American College of Emergency Physicians, a board member at Northwood Hills Country Club and greens committee and a member of B.P.O.E. #51. Doc was a lifelong fan and supporter of The Ohio State Buckeyes and regularly attended games at The Shoe. His other interests include the Corvette Club, card club and adopting senior rescue Shelties over the years. His current rescue dog, Katie, has been keeping him company through his failing health. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda; one brother, James (Jan) Brown, Lima; four sisters, Patricia (Robert) Jordan, Carol (Larry) Swords, both of Lima, Rebecca (Larry) Kuhlhorst, Celina and Peggy (Thomas) Brandewie, Ft. Loramie and one sister-in-law, Betty Jo (Mel) Lauf, Ottawa. Friends may call from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Monday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME with Elks services at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday in the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Allen officiating.
