Robert J. Schmittauer

SCHMITTAUER, Robert J. "Bob", 83, of Springfield, passed away Tuesday, October 28, 2014 in Eaglewood Care Center. He was born August 25, 1931 in Springfield the son of Joseph B. and Julia B. (Flanigan) Schmittauer. Bob had worked as an assembler for Cooper Industries for 46 years retiring in 1996. He was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church and a US Navy veteran having served in the Korean War. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Marjory (McArthur-McGuire); seven children and spouses, Bob & Peggy Schmittauer, Tina & Al Brooks, Joe & Barbie Schmittauer, Paul Schmittauer, Chris & Missy Schmittauer, Mary Ann & Floyd Horton and John & Jennifer Schmittauer; 22 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Gevedon and Jacqueline Whited and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Schmittauer and a grandson, Brian Schmittauer. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Eaglewood Nursing Home and Miami Valley Hospice for all their wonderful care. A Memorial Mass will be held at on Saturday, November 8, 2014 in St. Teresa Catholic Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Clark County Humane Society.
