Rita Mae Valentine

VALENTINE, Rita Mae, 88, of Springfield, OH passed away on September 24, 2024 in Villa Springfield. Rita was born on November 5, 1935 in Springfield, the daughter of James P. and Juanita (Daugherty) Newell. She was a 1953 graduate of Catholic Central High School and a lifelong member of St. Raphael Catholic Church, having served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was also a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society and past president and victim advocate for MADD. Survivors include her children, Victoria (David) Hermanowski, Edward Valentine, Martin Valentine, Theresa Anderson, John Valentine, Anne (Dan) Hope, Susan Thornburg and David (Michelle) Valentine; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Julia Valentine; extended family, Jay (Helena) Wolf, Patty Luther, John “Linc” Thornton and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roger Valentine; son-in-law Richard Anderson; great-grandson, Broderick Jones, and siblings, Robert (Barbara) Newell, Mary Lou (Donald “Truke”) Moody, James (Sonja) Newell and Theresa Newell. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00pm - 7:00pm in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday at 10:00am in St. Raphael Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Memorial donations may be made to St. Raphael Church or the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
