Richard U. "Rud" Drennen, Sr., 93, passed away Monday, May 4, 2015 peacefully at home. He was born January 22, 1922 in Springfield, OH, the son of the late Cecelia (Fritts) and Leo Drennen. He graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1940. He was a life member of Knights of Columbus Council 624 and one of the original Flying Dutchman. He was a retired manager from Cooper Industries (formerly White Motors). Richard Sr. was an avid follower of the Catholic Faith, a former Eucharistic Minister where he still, with his wife, administered Holy Communion to the sick and homebound members of his parish, St Raphael Catholic Church. He was known as a "good man", a loving husband, and devoted father. Richard is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Virginia "Ginny" (Ryan); three sons and one daughter, Richard (Susan) Drennen, Jr., Tipp City, OH. Douglas (Mary Francis) Drennen, Vancouver, WA. Michael (Kathryn) Drennen, Upper Arlington, OH. and Mary Cecelia Drennen, of Upper Arlington, OH; seven grandchildren Dr. Erica R. Drennen, Denver, CO, Zachary Drennen, Los Angeles, CA., David (Caitlin) Drennen, West Chester, OH. , Dr. Michael E. (Ashley) Drennen, Charlotte, NC., Matthew (Danielle, DVM) Drennen, Portland, OR., Colleen Drennen, Portland, OR., Megan Drennen, Portland, OR; a sister Rosemary Schneider of Springfield. OH; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers Leo Jr. (Babe), Robert, and James Drennen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in St. Raphael Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior in the church. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Raphael Renovation Fund. Arrangements are being handled by the CONROY FUNERAL HOME.
