MILLER, Richard Anthony "Dick", age 76, of Springfield, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his Family on Thursday January 30, 2014. He was born December 11, 1937 to Benjamin and Julia (O'Neill) Miller. He was a 1956 graduate of Catholic Central High School and the American College of Financial Services. He began his career with the Prudential Insurance Co. in 1960. He was the founder and President of Miller Financial Services. He received many awards in recognition of his dedication to his community and profession. He was a past President of the Springfield Life Underwriters Association, former member of the Million Dollar Roundtable and a former Commissioner of the local Little League Baseball program. He was a lifetime member of the Optimist Club and he lived his life as such. He often shared his favorite quote, "If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life." His real passion was following the lives of his seven children and seventeen grandchildren along with the love of his life, Mary Beth. If there was a school or sporting event and a Miller was participating, you could count on Dick and Mary Beth to be there in support. His other passions in life besides his family were playing tennis at Indian Valley, singing in the St. Bernard Choir and playing the piano. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Mary Beth (Mowery). Children: Mike (Becky), Mary Jo (Frank) Sugrue, Richard (Inge), Tim (Kelli), Debbie (Charles) Penzone, John and Dan. Grandchildren: Tony (Andrea), Randy, Shannon, Diane, Francis, Amy, Ricky, Leah Ann, Marshall, Amanda, Erin, Emily, Megan, TJ, Drew, Dylan, and Maddox. He is also survived by his brother Ben (Sandy) and sister Kay (Mike) Whalen. He was preceded in death by his Father and Mother, brother, Benjamin and sister, Sue Fuller. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 2nd 2014 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at St. Bernard Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Springfield Regional Cancer Center or Catholic Central School Foundation.
