COX, Raymond W., 96, formerly of Springfield, and recently of Hilltop Senior Village in Columbus, passed away Sunday, September 21, 2014 in the Dayton VA Medical Center. He was born March 1, 1918 in Washington Court House the son of Oliver and Hazel (Lee) Cox. He worked as a truck driver for Brown Steel for a number of years. Raymond was a United States Army veteran having served in WWII. He was a member of the V.F.W. #495, American Legion #532 and AMVETS #1928. Survivors include a son, William R. Cox, Las Vegas; three daughters, Helen Coffey, Athens, Ohio, Dianne (Bob) Smith, Columbus and Victoria (Steven) Shonebarger, Centerville; one brother, Eldon Cox, London, OH and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Mildred and his second wife Katherine, a son, Ronald Cox, one brother, Willard Cox and a sister, Helen Achor. Friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME with a graveside services to follow in Calvary Cemetery.
