BREX, Raymond J., 90, of Springfield died peacefully May 30, 2018 after a brief illness. He was born in Springfield on August 28, 1927, son of William F. and Helen Brex. He was a lifetime member of St. Bernard Church. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Donna (Addis); 5 children: Timothy, Teresa (Gary), Terry (Sheila), Tina (Darryl) Wilburn and Thom (Jennifer); 10 Grandchildren: Jennifer, Briana (Ryan), Smita Emily (Dustin), Jonathan, Moira, Julian, Vincent, Tyson, Terra and Roger; and 6 great-grandchildren, in addition to several brothers/sisters-in-law. He was Uncle Ray to 56 nieces/nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, William C., and a granddaughter, Amanda. He retired from Navistar after 34 years, and was a member of the UAW Local 402. He played in The Springfield and Kettering Banjo Bands where he entertained many with both his banjo and spoon playing. More importantly, he was a devoted husband, father and very proud and doting Grandpa. Visitation will be held at CONROY FUNERAL HOME on Saturday, June 2 from 2:00-3:00 p.m. with service following at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be held at St. Bernard Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Second Harvest Food Bank.
