Adams, Raymond H., 86, of Springfield, died Friday, September 9, 2016 at Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton. He was born in Reading, Pennsylvania on December 5, 1929 to Raymond and Elizabeth (Reusing) Adams. Ray graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1947 and then joined the Air Force. After his military service a family friend encouraged him to become a field engineer with National Cash Register in Dayton. After his schooling he worked more than 35 years with NCR, retiring in 1994. He attended St. Teresa Catholic Church and was an active member of the Animal Welfare League of Clark County where he served as its president since 2001. Ray liked going to auctions, eating at Red Lobster and playing euchre. Growing up he was proud to be part of a family of five children and being the only boy. Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Elizabeth H. (Bates); sister, Agnes Bohner; special niece, Patty; many nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Rosetta C. Bates, a special addition to Ray's life; many special friends and his current pets, Susie and Victor. He was preceded in death by three of his sisters. He was a kind, unpretentious and generous man who loved animals and helping those persons who were less fortunate. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. Sunday (today) in CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Teresa Church. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.
