Lucas, Ralph T. "Flip", 86, of Springfield, died February 7, 2015 in Villa Springfield. He was born December 11, 1928 in Springfield, OH to Roy T. and Rose M. (Schwartz) Lucas. Flip retired in1989 from SPECO Kelsey-Hayes after 36 years of service. He was an avid baseball player, having played several years in the San Francisco Giants organization. Later he coached numerous youth baseball teams, was active in local softball, and served as a coach and umpire/assigner in Clark County for many years. Flip was also inducted into both the Clark County Baseball Hall of Fame and the Clark County Bowling Hall of Fame. He coached for many years and won two State Bowling Championships in 2009 and 2010 for Kenton Ridge High School. Flip will be forever remembered for his vivacious personality, infectious smile and genuine selflessness that touched the lives of many. Survivors include two children, Cathy Pounds and Mark T. (Jody) Lucas of Springfield; two grandchildren, Lacee (Curtis) Freeze and Luke Pounds. He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice L. and a daughter, Pam Lucas. Friends may call in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Mullinix officiating.
