Patricia D'Arcy Catron Davis

DAVIS, Patricia D'Arcy Catron, 96, of Springfield, passed away at home on November 17, 2016. She was born in Memphis, TN on October 19, 1920 the daughter of John and Kathryn (Blalack) D'Arcy. She graduated from Central High School in Memphis and attended the Memphis Academy of Art and later Wittenberg University. She served as the Director of the Springfield Museum of Art from 1970 to 1991. During her tenure the Art Center became a fully accredited museum. Patricia was a member of the American Association of Museum Directors. In addition she was an active volunteer in the Women's Association of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra, serving as its president from 1957 to 1959. Patricia had a lifelong interest in both art and history. She was Regent of the Lagonda Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution from 1974-1976 and 2000-2002. She was also a founding member of Chapter 18 of the Colonial Dames of America. Her family was traced to the 1600's in America. Her ancestor Gideon Hunt Macon, for whom her grandson was named, was at Bruton Parish, Williamsburg, VA. She was also a member of other hereditary groups including the Jamestown Society, Society of Ancient Planters, National Society of Magna Charta Dames and Barons, Order of the Crown of Charlemagne, Order of the Merovingian Dynasty and Order of the Three Crusades. Her Southern affiliations included the United Daughters of the Confederacy and the Kentucky Colonels. Patricia was married to Robert F. Catron in 1946 until his death in 1997. In 2001 she was married to David M. Davis until his death in 2008. She is survived by two daughters, Kathryn Valerie Catron of Springfield and D'Arcy Catron (Steven) Wagner of Kingman, AZ; grandson, Hunt A. Wagner, Columbus, Ohio; stepson, Ted Davis and sister-n-law, Helen Catron Blasewitz. Private inurnment will be at Ferncliff Cemetery.
