Opal Cecilia McAtee

McAtee, Opal Cecilia, 90, of Springfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on August 28, 2013 in Villa Springfield. She was born November 27, 1922 in St. Francisville, IL to Theodore and Carrie E. (Shick) Rasico. She was a member of St. Teresa Catholic Church. Survivors include nine children, Joyce (Phillip) Simendinger, Laura (Patrick) Foley, Sr., John "Jack" (Sue) McAtee, Patrick (Susan) McAtee, William "Bill" McAtee, Marian "Mimi" (Ed) Shell, Karen (Tony) Parker, Christopher (Theresa) McAtee, and David (Lyn) McAtee; 26 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; a brother, Charles Gregory (Judy) Rasico; numerous nieces and nephews; and in laws, Catherine McAtee, Betty Rasico, Mary O'Connor and Robert McAtee. She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. in 2008 and a grandson. Cecilia always considered her children to be her greatest blessing. Friends may call in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, August 30. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 31 in St. Teresa Church. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
