Hirst, Norman M., 97, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, November 18, 2015. He was born in Nashville, Tennessee on June 3, 1918 the son of Frank and Rosalee (Miller) Hirst. He retired from Robinson Can Company in 1983 after 43 years of service. He was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church and was a World War II U.S. Army, 4th Armored Division veteran, serving in the Battle of the Bulge. Survivors include his wife, Mary M. (Hiller); son, Rick Hirst of Ashland, Ohio; step-son, Keith (Carolyn) Castle; step-daughter, Mary (Rick) Hansen; six grandchildren and sister, Juanita Hulsey. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary K. Hirst; son, Norman Daniel Hirst; daughter, Kathy Ann "K.T." Hirst and seven siblings. The family wishes to thank all the doctors and staff of Springfield Regional Medical Center and Community Mercy Hospice for all of their care. Visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. Sunday in CONROY FUNERAL HOME. His funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the funeral home with Pastor Merrill Mellott officiating. Burial will be in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
