MAGEL, Nancy, 73, died Sunday, January 8th, 2017. Nancy was born April 14, 1943 in Troy, OH to Edward and Gladys Magel. She is survived by her two children, Nick Magel of San Francisco and Kate (Kenneth) Mitchell of Springfield OH; sister, Jan (Chuck) Bakan of Poway, CA; brother Edward (Yder Laya) Magel, of Brooklyn, NY; three grandchildren, Makenna, Adalynn and Olivia; nephews Greg and Doug Bakan; and many lifelong co-workers and friends. Nancy dedicated her life to family and service to others. Nancy attended nursing school at Good Samaritan, St. Louis University and OSU, and received her masters from University of Dayton. She was a nurse and educator dedicated to mentoring a new generation of nurses. Nancy served in the United States Air Force as a Captain at Clark AFB in the Philippines during the Vietnam War, and Altus AFB in OK. Following her service, Nancy worked as nurse with the Zuni nation. Upon her return to Ohio she worked with the nursing association, served as VP at Springfield Mercy Hospital, ran a consulting business, and directed a local hospice.
