Nancy Ellen Twaits

Twaits, Nancy Ellen, 94, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, September 19, 2018. She was born in Westville, Ohio on October 9, 1923 the daughter of Claude and Zelma (Lay) Pence. She was a 1941 graduate of Westville High School and obtained a business degree in 1943 from Springfield Business School. She retired from the International Logistic Center at Wright Patterson Air Force Base on November 24, 1986. During that time she traveled throughout the United States and abroad. She was a member of Toast Masters, Sprylighters Theater Group and Springfield Elderly United. She volunteered at Community Hospital and played piano at community nursing homes. She loved music, including playing piano, violin and sang in church choirs. She loved to dance. She enjoyed line dancing with her daughter, Nancy Jo for nine years with the group Young at Heart and performed at festivals and fairs. Survivors include her three daughters, Barbara Detwiler, Virginia "Ginger" Rueger and Nancy Jo (Paul) Buchanan; grandchildren, Bradley, Jeffery, Shawn and Chad Detwiler, Kristy Mayo, Brian and Brenton (Jessica) Rueger and Paula (Dave) Watkins; great grandchildren, Brandon, Alexis, Jared, Alessandra, William, Chandler, Sophie, Kaius, Hayden, Lexi, Addie and nephew, Mark (Sue) Pence. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday in CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Pastors Scott Fetter and Vicki Downing officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery, Urbana.
