He was born in Springfield on January 10, 1947 to Robert and Myrtle Haemmerle.
Mike graduated from Catholic Central and attended Xavier University, before joining the United States Air Force. He retired from Navistar after working 37 years as a supervisor.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Jeanne (Singleton); three children, Lori (Robert) Fenwick, Brian (Amy) and Greg. He also leaves behind 3 grandchildren, Lindsey (Daniel) Cunningham, Kaylee (Ryan) Lewis, and Paige Haemmerle; 3 great grandchildren, Klaus and Fitz Cunningham, Beckham Lewis; and brother, Bob (Ginny) Haemmerle. He also has a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. Additionally, he has numerous friends who he loved like family.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by his son, Andy.
Mike was well known for his incredible, uncanny sense of humor and unending love for his family and friends. He could always be found making “dad jokes” as he found humor in almost everything that he encountered. Everyone he came in contact with would leave with a smile. Even people who he just met would instantly feel like his best friend. His zest for life brought joy to all that knew him. His passion for golf was as boundless as the green fairways that he adored. He loved woodworking and while his hands crafted beauty from wood, his quick wit carved smiles on faces. He regularly cheered his favorite teams… the Cleveland Browns, THE Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Cincinnati Reds. But above all, his heart cherished family, weaving love and laughter into every moment. He had unwavering devotion to those he held dear. His laugher echos in our memories.
