WHITING, Mary Virginia (Puckett), 91, of Springfield passed away Sunday, August 11, 2013 in the home of her daughter and son-in-law. She was born August 4, 1922 in Adams County, Ohio to the late Alfred and Sadie (Colvin) Puckett. In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Stanley Whiting and brothers, Russ, Forrest, Joe, Ben, Edward and Chester and sisters, Anna Frances Puckett and Audrey Gustin. She is survived by her son Kenneth (Pat) Whiting, Springfield, her daughter, Gerry (Jack) Maier, Springfield, whom she lived with the last 4 ½ years, son Charles (Lynn) Whiting, Denver; grandchildren, Scott (Melissa) Whiting, Debra VanHoose, Beth (Scott) Stein, Richard (Roxanne) Maier, Michael Maier, Jeremy (Darlene) Whiting, Rachel Cook, Andrew Whiting, Kyle (Avi) Whiting, Tyler (Megan) Whiting; great grandchildren, Shannon, Daly, Timmy, Brandon (Lindsay), Abbey, Ambika, Brandy, Dustin, Casey, Jack, Jamie, Shelby, Michael, Andrew, Stephan, Casey, Jeremy, Juliette, Eytan, Yonatan and Lucy; great great grandchildren, Mason, Tyler, Sara, Matthew, Taya, Ryan, Jackson, Sara and Kiley; two sisters, Ethie Surber, Hillsboro and Mrs. Doris (Frank) McCoppin, Greenfield and numerous nieces and nephews. Mary graduated from high school in 1940 and was the cook at Catholic Central. She was an avid bowler for over 40 years. She worked with the junior bowlers at Northridge Lanes for over 20 years and was secretary of two senior leagues at Northridge Lanes until three years ago when she had to give up bowling. She was inducted into the Women's Bowling Hall of Fame in 2006. She continued with her bowling by bowling on the computer with a program her son in law found for her and to work her find-the-word puzzles. Mary will be remembered for always having a smile on her face. The family would like to thank Lee Hyland for all the help and support she gave to Mary, Gerry and Jack. We would also like to thank hospice for the kindness, help and support this last week. We would also like to thank the German Township E.M.T's for the many times they had to come and help and transport Mary. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday in CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Her funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with Rev. Richard Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
