Mary L. Gootee

Gootee, Mary L., 90, of Springfield, passed away on March 31, 2016. Mary was born on August 18, 1925 in Huntington, West Virginia, the daughter of Peter J. and Mary T. (Knee) Houvouras. She had been employed as a Waitress for Linardos Villas for 35 years and was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church. Survivors include three children, Sandy (Jim) Ewing of Bluffton, SC, Albert Gootee of Springboro, OH and Trish (Nick) DiDonato of Hartville, OH; a daughter-in-law, Lois Gootee of Springfield; 11 grandchildren, Jimmy (Sharon) Ewing, Jason (Becca) Ewing, Holly, Albert, III (fiancé, Ann Henderson), and Alex Gootee, Matthew DiDonato, Kara (fiancé, Jon Engle) DiDonato, Amanda (Sam) Sourignavong, Don Halen, Dennis (Diane) Halen and Lydia Halen; 12 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Linda Houvouras; and many nieces, nephews and cousins, including Patty Johnson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; her son, Keith; and three brothers, John Houvouras, William (Bernadette) Houvouras and Thomas Peter (Lillian) Houvouras. Friends may call at the CONROY FUNERAL HOME from 2:00pm - 4:00pm on Sunday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Monday in St. Bernard Catholic Church. Interment will be held in St. Bernard Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Bernard Catholic Church.
