Henry, Mary Imogene, 94, of Springfield, Ohio, formerly of Yellow Springs, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on August 16, 2015 at Hearth and Home at Harding Senior Nursing Facility. She was born in Chickamauga, Walker, Georgia, July 16, 1921, the daughter of Earl F. and Agnes A. (Fitch) Rutherford. Mary attended Springfield City Schools and taught an after school class of puppetry for several years in their evening program. Mary was a voracious reader. Her primary reading interest focused on her Biblical Studies and the hermeneutical commentary of its contents by various authors. Her secondary reading interest focused on homeopathic medicine and the effects of natural health supplements on the human body. Mary loved children and for many years, she was superintendent of the Children's Primary Department at Clifton Avenue Church of God. Mary and her late husband Frederick were charter members in the establishment of the non-denominational church pastored by Rev. Ray and Mary Dunlap, known as "The Little Church Beside the Road" presently operated by Victory Baptist Church.
She is survived two sons, Dr. Michael Earl Henry (Drusilla) of Springfield, Ohio and Fred Eugene Henry (Mary Beth) of Mechanicsburg, Ohio; three grandsons, Matthew Michael of the Villages, Florida, David Andrew (Kelli) of Pendelton, Indiana, and Isaac Robert and Colleen O'Brien, of South Portland, Maine; two great-granddaughters, Baylee Marie Henry of Dublin, Ohio and Dora Grace Henry of Columbus, Ohio; step great-grandson Xander Burnett of Urbana, Ohio; two step-granddaughters, Elizabeth Rizen and John Wing of Mechanicsburg, Ohio and Emmaline (Alex) Burnett of Urbana, Ohio; two special nieces, Barbara (Bob) Wiseman and Judy (Carl) Bostick, both from Springfield, OH; two special friends Shelly Lott of the Villages, Florida and Emily Hayes, of Springfield, OH. She is preceded in death by her late husband of 76 years, Frederick Orville; her parents, Earl and Agnes Rutherford; and all of her six siblings, Earline Swadener (sister), Reba Summerville (sister), Mildred Phillips (sister), Arnella Rutherford (sister), and Robert Rutherford (brother). Visitation will occur prior to the service in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME, 1660 E. High Street, Springfield, Ohio from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 20, followed by a memorial service officiated by Pastor Darlene Fugate of Oakwood United Methodist Church, Dayton, Ohio. Interment will immediately follow at the Donnelsville Cemetery, Donnelsville, Ohio.
