Mary E. O'Neal

O'NEAL, Mary E., 62, of Springfield, born September 15, 1951 in Springfield the daughter of Martin and Dorothy (Benston) O'Neal. Her kind and generous spirit was called to His Heavenly Home on April 19, 2014. She is survived by her most valued treasures, her son, Bill Lyons; brother, Tom and Debra O'Neal; sister and "other brother at heart", Peggy and Dave Barnhart; nieces, Shannon, Katey, Bridget, Heather, Becky and special cousin, Linda Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents. Mary worked in many public service jobs including the Springfield Police Department and Community Hospital and was a member of VFW #1031. Mary had a zest for life and adventure. She loved her family, the ocean and all animals - big and small. She had the soul of a gypsy, yet could dig her heels in and move mountains for a friend in need. Mary, with her twinkling eyes and famous SEG, will be dearly missed by all those whose lives she touched. The family would like to extend a sincere thanks to all of the earth angels at Oakwood Village, who took amazing care of Mary over the last 2 ½ years and also a special thanks to Hospice at Springfield Regional Medical Center. A Memorial Gathering will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 pm on Saturday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Clark County Humane Society.
