Mary Agnes "Aggie" "Sissie" (Gaffney) Ferryman

FERRYMAN, Mary Agnes "Aggie" "Sissie" (Gaffney), 88, died Tuesday May 31 following several months of declining health. She was born May 21, 1928 in Springfield Ohio to Agnes Marie (Schwartz) and James C. Gaffney and graduated from Catholic Central High School. Aggie began as Church Organist at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Springfield Ohio while in grade school (where she met/chased her future husband) and remained at St. Bernard in the Music Ministry and Choir in various forms for decades, retiring in her late Seventies. She played in several area churches of all denominations as a guest organist. She taught and touched many lives at St. Bernard, and also wrote music and poetry. She enjoyed a number of hobbies over the years: bowling, bingo, volunteering, gardening, and laying out in the sun with her best friends, especially Gladys Schneeburger. Aggie and Russ were long time members of the VFW Post 1031 and it's Lunch Bunch. Aggie was preceded in death by the Love of her Life, Russell E. Ferryman, Jr. whom she married August 11, 1951 and a brother, Junior Walters. Aggie is survived by a daughter, Mary Ann "Nan" ( Mom's Steven Paul) Mitch of South Vienna and a son James Michael (Mollie) of Columbus, Ohio. She had three beloved grandchildren; Jesse (Ashley), Megan (Davy), all of Springfield and Adrian (Heather), of Arkansas. She leaves 8 treasured great grandchildren: Robby, Christian, Gage, Davey, Jessah, Destiny, Camryn and Abby Llona. She is also survived by many well-loved cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends, all of whom we wish could be named here. Russ and Aggie were devoted to others, and enjoyed life to the fullest. Their humor and caring will never be forgotten by those who knew and loved them both. Rest in His Arms and with Dad now, Mom. We love you a Bushel and a Peck. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME with Fr. John MacQuarrie officiating. Visitation will be held one and a half hours prior, beginning at 10:30 am.
