Mary A. Lubbers

Lubbers, Mary A., 92, whose maiden name was Somers, died July 28, 2014 in her home. The Springfield, Ohio native was born November 9, 1921 in Springfield and lived there throughout her life. Mrs. Lubbers attended St. Mary's Parochial School, Catholic Central High School, Wittenberg University, and Mount Saint Joseph College. A lifelong Catholic, she taught at St. Bernard's Parochial School from 1970-1988. She was a member of St. Bernard's Parish. Mrs. Lubbers was also a long time member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Ohio Lyric Chorus. She enjoyed many activities including music, science, reading a good murder mystery, playing games, and spending time with her family and friends. She was an amazing singer with a superb soprano voice. Mrs. Lubbers also volunteered for many years at Mercy Hospital after she retired from teaching. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert P. Lubbers; her son, Michael Annis; her brothers, Charles and John Somers; and many, many good friends. Survivors include her children, Maxwell Von Clien, Alicia (Dr. Scott Hosket) Caulfield, Georgia (Richard) Thomas, and Mary Katherine Somers; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; countless nieces and nephews; one sister-in-law, Helen Somers; and surrogate children and grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday in St. Bernard Church, with visitation one ½ hour prior. Arrangements handled by CONROY FUNERAL HOME.
