GLENDENDING, Martha Jean, 83, of Springfield, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, May 27, 2017. She was born January 9, 1934 in Springfield, Ohio, the daughter of Carl and Lorena (Werker) Moore. After graduating from Catholic Central High School, she married the late John R. Glendening. She started her long tenure at St. Bernard as the school cook, where she was known as "Mrs. G", until her retirement in 1999. Jean was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church, the Catholic Ladies of Columbia, and the V.F.W. #1031 Ladies Auxiliary. She was a loyal Cincinnati Reds fan and loved her "vanilla with chocolate chip" ice cream. She will always be remembered for her loving kindness to others. Jean's most treasured memories were spent with her family. Survivors include her five children, Linda Orum, Pam Glendening (Bruce Gamble), Rick Glendening, Sherry Valentine and Tina (Matt) Parrill; six grandchildren, Stacey (Tony) Lee, Jon (Megan) Orum, Briana Valentine (fiancé Gabe Abraham), Ian Valentine, Allison and Hayden Parrill; four great grandchildren, Kiersten and Kaitlyn Lee and Harper and Hadley Orum and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her late husband John R. in 1989, her daughter Brenda, and four siblings. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday in St. Bernard Catholic Church with Fr. John MacQuarrie officiating. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery.
