Henry, Mark Eugene, TSGT Retired U.S. Air Force, 82, of Springfield, passed away on Friday, May 26, 2017. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio on June 10, 1934 the son of George and Helen (Sositko) Henry. After serving 20 years in the U.S. Air Force as a Communications Specialist, he retired in 1973. He attended and graduated from Clark Tech College and Central State University. He was employed as a Systems Accountant at Wright Patterson Air Force Base for 13 years, retiring in 1990. Upon retirement he received the Air Force Outstanding Civilian Service Award. Mark volunteered at Mercy and Community Hospitals from 1995 to 2010. He enjoyed traveling and Casino Gambling. He was a devoted fan of the Cincinnati Reds for most of his life. He also formed great interest in the football and basketball teams of the Ohio State Buckeyes. Survivors include his wife, Ethel (Collins), whom he married in 1959 in Brookville, Indiana; son, Alvin (Kitty) Henry; two daughters, Dawn and Denise Henry; three sisters, Sherry (Roy) Salone, Terry Bradley and Michele (Ken) Metzer; three grandchildren, Alan, Mark and Nicholas Henry; three great grandchildren, Brandon, Destiny and Mia; two little friends, Jacob Bates and David Fent and several nieces. He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis; sister, Patricia Rogers; granddaughter, Lacie Henry and two special aunts, Geneva Robbins and Pauline Sositko. His funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in CONROY FUNERAL HOME with Pastor David Miller officiating. Visitation will be held 1 and ½ hours prior to the service. Burial will be in Ferncliff Cemetery.
