Louise D. Carroll

Carroll, Louise D., 93, passed into eternity on Monday, November 6, 2017. Louise was born February 12, 1924, the 5th of 9 children of John and Louise (Ebbert) Carroll in St. Clairsville, Ohio. Louise was a graduate of Wheeling Hospital School of Nursing, received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing Education from Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and a Master's of Education from Central State University. She was the Director of the Community Hospital School of Nursing, then transitioned to hospital administration as Vice President, the position she held until her retirement in 1987. She dedicated her working life to the advancement of Community Hospital and the profession of nursing. She served in many national nursing education organizations and was recognized as a leader in the field of nursing and served as a role model for many health care professionals. In addition to her parents, Louise will be met in Heaven by her siblings, John (Doris), George, Gene (Ronnie), Mary Virginia Carroll, Joan Carroll (Sister Marianne), Dorothy Carroll Singleton (Howard), and brother-in-law, John Link. She is survived by her sisters, Rosemary Carroll Link of North Olmstead, OH, Ruth Carroll of St. Clairsville, OH, and sister-in-law, Loraine Carroll; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5 - 8 p.m. in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Raphael Catholic Church with Fr. John Betters officiating. Interment will be held in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville, OH at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 18. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association Scholarship Fund or the St. Raphael Church Restoration Fund. The family would like to offer a special thanks to the staff at Villa Springfield for all of the love and attention provided during these last few difficult months.
