Lora L. Salyers

SALYERS, Lora L., 89, of New Carlisle, passed away Friday, December 11, 2015 in Springfield Regional Medical Center after complications from surgery. She was born November 20, 1926 in Paintsville, KY to John J. and Goldie (Salyer) Conley. She worked as a cook for several nursing homes including the K of P Nursing Home for 31 years. Lora was active in the Senior Citizens in New Carlisle where she enjoyed Bingo and the pot lucks. She loved to do canning, homemade cooking, crocheting and sewing. Survivors include two daughters, Janet & Jack McKenzie, Paintsville, KY and Ruth & Dale Long, Springfield; 4 grandchildren, David McKenzie, Rodney Frey, Laura West, Barry Salyers; a special daughter-in-law, Charla Bailey; 5 great grandchildren; numerous great great grandchildren and one brother, John Paul Conley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett, a son, Kevin Salyers, siblings, Frankie Mae, Susie Jane, Mary Ruth, Clifford, Army, Ova and Thomas. The family would like to thank the nursing staff at the hospital for all their wonderful care. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 on Monday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Visitation will be held one hour prior starting at 12:30 pm. Burial will follow in Asbury Chapel Cemetery.
