Lewis E. Carr

Carr, Lewis E. "Gene", 82, of Springfield, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2016 in his home. Gene was born August 5, 1934 in Chillicothe, OH to Homer and Clara (Seymour) Carr. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church, where he also served as a trustee. Survivors include his wife, Willa (Petty) Carr; two children, Jimmy (Sandra) Carr and Lori Ann Carr; four grandchildren, Sydney (Gary) Shope, Samantha and Lucas White and Elizabeth Holland; one great grandson, Hunter Shope; one sister, Judy Jolley; one brother-in-law, Harold Quick; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Larry Carr; and one sister, Janey Quick. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday in St. Mark United Methodist Church with Pastor Merrill Mellott officiating. Entombment will be held in Rose Hill Burial Park. Memorial donations may be made in his name to St. Marks United Methodist Church.
