Yake, Kenneth H.,95, of Springfield, passed away on December 9, 2015. Kenneth was born on February 22, 1920 in Harmony, OH to Emerson and Cora (May) Yake. He graduated from Plattsburg High School and was a United States Marine Corps Veteran of World War II having served at Guadalcanal and Peleliu. Kenneth "Kenny" had been employed as a Meat Cutter for WPAFB Commissary for 30 years before retiring. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, D.A.V., Elderly United and loved to travel with his wife. Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Mary A. (Vass) Yake; children, Mary Ellen (Gordon) McClung, Theresa (Steve) Adams, Steve (Carol) Yake, Beth Yake, all of Springfield and Tim (Kerri) Yake of Athens; seven grandchildren, David (Stephanie) Adams, Emily (Dane) Sizemore, Christopher Yake, Rachael, Kyle, Mitch, Gabrielle Yake and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Harold and his sister, Helen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00am on Monday at St. Joseph Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior starting at 10:00am at the church. Interment will be held in St. Bernard Cemetery.
