Anderkin, Joy, 83, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, December 25, 2017 in her home. Joy was born May 15, 1934 in Irwin, OH to James and Effie (Osborn) Dooley. She was a 1952 graduate of Springfield South High School, and subsequently a legal secretary until retiring to be a full-time mother. As a dedicated member of the Springfield, Vermont Assembly of God, she served as a secretary, ministered in music, taught Sunday School, and served as a board member for many years. She was presently attending Berea Bible Church. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, James H. Anderkin; three children, Catherine S. (Thomas) Smith, Jay S. (Debi) Anderkin and Curtis L. (Jean) Anderkin; nine grandchildren, Nicole, Pamela, Joshua, Charlotte, Katie, Emily, Matthew, Alexis and Leah; four great grandchildren, Mateo, Ruby, Rose and Paige; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five siblings: Mary Mabel Cason, James Proctor Dooley, Charles Dooley, Betty Jordan and Harold Dooley. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 - 7 p.m. in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in Berea Bible Church, 3850 Derr Rd., Springfield, OH 45503, with Pastor Brian Miller officiating. Burial will be held in Vale Cemetery.
