Joseph R. Thompson

Thompson, Joseph R., 71, of Springfield, passed away at 11:55 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2016 in Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born in Springfield on November 5, 1944 the son of Joseph Virgil and Hildred (Moore) Thompson. He worked as a janitor for many years at Wittenberg University and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Survivors include his two sons, Jerry (Gina) Thompson of Springfield and Joseph Thompson of North Carolina; brother, Harley Thompson of Springfield, four grandchildren, Ashly, Sara, Adam and Arica Claar and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca Claar in 2013 and several siblings. His funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday in CONROY FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Orbie Estep officiating. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park.
