Whitacre, Joseph Alan, 54, passed away unexpectedly April 12, 2017 in Oak Ridge, TN. Joe was born in Springfield, Ohio to Joseph and the late Kathleen Whitacre. Survivors include his loving wife, Lisa (Schlie) Whitacre; two amazing sons, J.C. (Katie) Whitacre and Bobby Whitacre; his sister, Laura (Kevin) West; dear brother-in-law of Joe (Allison) Schlie, Sherri (Ron) Holzman, Mike (Kristen) Schlie, Mike Kenney, Kathy Kremer and the late Rick Schlie; fun loving uncle of Rachael (Matt), Michaela, Will (Kelly), Cait (Tyler), David, Emily (Ian), Scott, Andy, Ben, Jean, Avery and Cameron; great-uncle of Allison, Crosley and Hailey. He is also survived by many aunts and uncles. Family will receive friends on Saturday, April 22 from 8:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 a.m. at Bellarmine Chapel on Xavier University Campus, Cincinnati, OH. Family and friends are encouraged to continue the celebration of Joe's life immediately following the Mass at Joe and Lisa's favorite place, The Silver Spring House, 8322 E. Kemper Rd., Montgomery, Ohio. The family would like to thank Joe's E.W. Scripps/Scripps Networks Interactive family, Lisa's TN support system from The Episcopal Diocese of East Tennessee, and all the loving medical staff at the Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge TN.
