Joseph A. Herrman

Herrman, Joseph A., 78, of Springfield, passed away August 28, 2015 in his home. He was born March 19, 1937 in Philadelphia, PA to Joseph and Catherine (Conners) Herrman. Joseph was a Lt. Col. for the United States Air Force where he served as a Navigator for twenty-four years. He was a member of St. Bernard Church and B.P.O.E. # 51. Survivors include his wife, Gretchen (Uhler); four children, Karen (Vernon Gowdy) Mathis, Margaret (Charles) Hogan, Theresa (Rick) Brewer and Gretchen (Ron) Hovda; eight grandchildren, Hailey, Michael (Shauna), Matthew, Christopher (Danielle), Ashley (Chase), Dawn (Ross), Ron (Allison Weeks) and Patrick; five great-grandchildren, Brandon, Blake, Knox, Addison and Emery; and a brother, John (Joyce) Herrman. He was preceded in death by his sister, Susan McPherson. The family would like to thank Dr. Singh, Dr. Espinosa and Jaime and Tammy from Community Mercy Hospice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. in St. Bernard Catholic Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior at 11:00 a.m. in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Bernard Church.
