HORSTMAN, John G., 99, formerly of Springfield, passed away October 31, 2013 in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was born June 8, 1914 in Springfield, the eldest son of the ten children of John H. and Edith (Geiger) Horstman. His beloved wife Bernice A. (Wild) and son Gregory G. preceded him in death. John was a tool and dye maker who during WWII made armaments necessary for the war effort. He retired in 1979 from Robertson Can Co. in Springfield. Survivors include his three children and spouses, Joyce (Don) Hillebrand, Philip (Nancy) Horstman and Susan (Robert) Baehner, Jr.; four grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; sisters, Mary C. Pauly, Margaret Chambers, Irene (Ben) Myers, Ann Falkenbach, Angela (John) Martin and a sister-in-law, Marjorie Horstman. He was preceded in death by his three brothers, Francis X., Robert E. and Roger L. and one sister, Betty J. Ebenger. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday in St. Teresa Catholic Church. Family and friends will gather two hours prior to the service from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Burial will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery.
