TURNER, John Edward "Mugs", 72, of Springfield, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2015 in Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born September 11, 1942 in Springfield the son of Dr. Raymond and Dr. Lillian (Posch) Turner. John graduated high school from Randolph-Macon Military School in Front Royal, Virginia and graduated from The Ohio State University with a Masters Degree from the School of Agriculture. He taught aviation at The Ohio State University. He owned and operated Springfield Impregnators (Brite Strip), now known as Metaltek for 45 years and employed at Ideal Steel until he was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2010. John thrived on farming his small farm in Catawba, raising chickens and sheep. He was an antique dealer, avid scuba diver and underwater photographer. He played bluegrass music in a band called Locust Grove. He enjoyed reading and watching western movies. His true passion was in shooting clay targets and he won a truck at the Grand National Trap Shoot in Vandalia, Ohio in 2000. He belonged to the Clark County Sportsman Club, WPAFB Gun Club and the Okobojee Indian Trap Shooting Club (known there as Chief Dozer) and B.P.O.E. #51. Survivors include his wife, Suzanne (Fogarty) Turner; daughter, Georgianne (Jeff Watson) Turner, Sacramento, California; step-daughters, Megan (Jeff) Crawford, Troy; two grandchildren, Jordan and Josie Crawford, Troy; brother, Jeffrey Turner, Dublin; special friend, Sandy Funderburg and many, many more friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his special pets, Hilde and Emma. A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME with Matthew McNelly officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. John was small in stature but big in heart. He was kind, generous and very funny. "A man's got to do what a man's got to do." - John Wayne
