Joanne Barmann

BARMANN, Joanne (Heider), 87, of Springfield, passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2017 in Oakwood Village after several months of failing health. Joanne was born in rural Clark County on September 17, 1929, the daughter of C. Lester and C. Louise (Jacobs) Heider. She attended Olive Branch High School and Mount St. Joseph College. On June 25, 1949, she married W. James "Jim" Barmann, who was the love of her life. They enjoyed 41 years of happy marriage before he preceded her in death in 1990. Joanne loved being a mother and homemaker and enjoyed baking, sewing, quilting and traveling. She is survived by her six children, Susan (Jan) Mast, Kathy Barmann, Marylou Barmann (Joe) Sayre, Jim Barmann, Tom (Julie) Barmann and Beth (John) Zavell; thirteen grandchildren, Aaron, Ryan, and Ben Mast, Kevin Barmann, Patrick, Mimi, and Ali Sayre, Casey and Abby Barmann, Amy, Mary, and Paul Zavell and Danielle Hower. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother, George Heider. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, April 17, 2017 in St. Teresa Catholic Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior from 9:00 to 10:00 am in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
