Joann Rutan

Rutan, Joann, 87, formerly of Springfield, passed away on September 28, 2015 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Joann was born on October 10, 1927 in Springfield to Herman F. and Nancy Lucille (McConnehea) Gunderman. Joann graduated from Springfield Business College and was employed by Yellow Springs Clinic, the City of Springfield, The Ohio Masonic Home, and numerous local banks, finally retiring from Champaign National Bank of Urbana. She was a member of Home City Chapter- Order of the Eastern Star for a many years and was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she also volunteered. Survivors include her daughter, Michele (Jeff) Wells; two grandchildren, Nicholas (Kaylie) and Kelsey Wells, all of the Carolinas; her brother and sister-in-law, Irvin and Elaine Rutan; and a special nephew Robert Rutan. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Clyde E. Rutan and her brother, Horace Gunderman. A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Visitation will be held one hour prior, starting at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Private graveside services will follow. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Joann's name to your local Hospice organization, the Alzheimer's Association, or the Humane Society.
