Shoemaker, Jimmy Lee, 84, of Springfield, passed away on October 31, 2017 at his residence. Jimmy was born on October 14, 1933 in Columbus, OH to Charles and Geraldine (Puckett) Shoemaker. He was a Veteran of The United States Army and had worked as a horse trainer for many years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church in New Carlisle. Jimmy was a NASCAR driver in the 1950's and was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the Ohio Appaloosa Association. Survivors include two step-children, Cynthia Marie (William) Shulack of Galesburg, Michigan and Richard Edward (Marlene) Bushman of Grove City, Ohio; five grandchildren, Bill (Katie) Shulack, Emily (Brandon) Witt, Matthew Shulack, David (Erin) Bushman and Joseph Bushman (Angie Green); five great-grandchildren, Will, Lila, Tyler, Alice and Oliver; two siblings, Dorothy Lockard and William Shoemaker and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene, in 2010. Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:30 pm on Saturday in the CONROY FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday in the funeral home with Pastor Richard Johnson officiating. . Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Animal Welfare League.
